I don't know about you, but I have so many passwords, usernames and PIN numbers for stuff these days that I could probably turn them into a 500-page book (albeit a really boring book). Of course, it's virtually impossible to store this much data in one head, so it's a good idea to install some kind of password management program.

If you're a Mac user then you're in luck, because there's a rather wonderful app for OS X called 1Passwd , which keeps a record of all your secret numbers for you. What's more, if you have a Palm or Treo, you can now use your handheld to transport this information around with you wherever you go.

1Passwd Reader syncs to your Mac version of 1Passwd pretty easily, though it is a little long-winded to begin with. You will need to download the Palm Desktop for Macintosh utility first and install it. Then you'll need to launch HotSync and click the 'Install Handheld Files' menu item to install and sync the application.

Once it's all set up though, the program works very well, seamlessly transmitting all your password info from your Mac to your Palm memory or expansion card. From here you can browse all your passwords using your key chain access code.

If you're a Mac user who has lots of passwords then 1Password Reader offers a great way of carrying this information wherever you go.
